Wood,
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Bro.
Your a pretty awesome guy, it's been great having you as a brother and a friend.
Many of my best memories of life have been with you, and I look forward to many more adventures and good times with you.
Muchas gustas,
Jason
Scott, here is a virtual $100.00, do t spend it all in one place...
ReplyDeleteHAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO YOU! love ya, hope you have a great day!!!
ReplyDeleteMany fond memories of this pretty special guy. Melanie and I always called Scott the "Golden Brother", he could do no wrong in our eyes and always thought whoever married him was going to be one lucky gal.
ReplyDeleteScott has so many great qualities... FUN, funny, adventurous heart, humble, compassionate, loving, a little bit stubborn, hard worker, thrifty, great drive to get things done in life, loyal, spiritual.
Some of the funny memories as kids were feeding Scott bugs and yes, he ate them.
Scott and Jason strapping Michael to a chair and trying to rocket him to outer space with bottle rockets.
Dressing him up as "Baby Sally" and teaching him how to dance around in a cute pink dress.
Scott would participate in plays Melanie and I would put on for the family. I remember a particular skit of the Three Bears at our cabin.
Trying to keep this short and sweet, but one more story I have to tell because it just goes to show what a big heart Scott has- it's the story of when we were older teens, I went out with my brothers to Sundance to ride a few of the mt. biking tails and at the time I was pretty new to the sport. I ended up being a pretty big wuss and all the others in the group ditched me except Scott.
Scott stayed with me the whole time coaching me down some sketchy parts.
Seeing the video caused a little swelling in my heart and eyes, especially seeing you with your beautiful wife and the exceptional family you have made. There is something so sensationally sweet about a Dad's and seeing them with young children,it is so tender. Love you both!
Ya-ba-da-ba-do! Happy Birthday to great man.
Happy 30th Birthday to you Scotty! Whoa! 30 years, it doesn't seem that long
ReplyDeleteago when we were all hanging out in the front yard of your home on 1030 West
playing redlight/greenlight and timebomb!!
A couple of my most vivid memories of Scotty include one time when I was tasked by
da big bruddah Roogie to watch the kids. Scott was supposed to be taking a nap
in his downstairs bedroom. I kept on hearing this occasional kathump noise and
could not for the life of me figure out what it was. I fianlly was able to figure
out it was coming from Scotty's bedroom and when I opened the door...What the----?!
I saw Scott leap off of the top level of the (floor to ceiling) shelving onto his bed
"KATHUMP!" Talk about my heart in my throat! I could just imagine Roogie finding
out about that happening when I was supposed to keep an eye on you kids! I asked
Scotty, how in the heck did you get way up there? All Scotty said was "watch"! and
that little guy climbed up the shelf while I stood there dumbfounded. He then quickly
twisted around and with a little smirk, jumped and landed with a loud KATHUMP!!
Needless to say, I made him take a nap upstairs; no way was my little nephew going to
hurt himself on my watch, you could just imagine the Hello I would catch from my big
bruddah!
One other memorable event was when the family went out to Chucky's (Chuckarama) and
discovered while on the way home, that Scotty had been left behind. On our hasty return
back, there was little Scotty walking fearlessly home on State Street! What a fearless,
independent little guy! I've always been so impressed with his (and all of my Mountain
Dew nieces and nephews) fearlessness and independent attitude!
Scotty, Nina and I want to wish you a Happy 30th Birthday. We're so proud of you and
wish you and your family continued happiness, health and success.
Love always and forever,
your Rock & Roll Uncle Greg and his groupie, Nina!! :-)
Scott,
ReplyDeleteBefore wishing you Happy B-day, I owe you a tongue-lashing.
I was really bummed when you told me you were leaving. I have thoroughly enjoyed riding and racing together, but who the heck can I talk bikes with now at family parties? No longer can I use "well Scott is racing this weekend" as cannon fodder for the ubiquitous tussle with Meg over long rides and racing excursions. Colorado...pfft...who needs it?
OK. Now that that's out of my system...30...that's a big one. But don't sweat it. It seems like forever ago for me and I still feel like there's decades of good times ahead. I am glad you married into this craz...ehem...fabulous Moore family. Its nice not being the only one that prefers dressing in skin-tight lycra and repeatedly flogging myself on a 14 lb piece of carbon for a 4" ribbon to developing a shining ball-sport pedigree and trophies galore.
Happy Birthday Dude! I look forward to sharing some miles with you this summer. Do LOTOJA. We'll finally be able to race it together.
Cheers,
Pete
Scotty,
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! OMG the time flies by sooooo fast. It seems like only yesterday I was giving you horsey-back rides. Man, did you and your brothers and sisters wear me out... but I sure did have a ball. You have an incredibly beautiful family and for that you are rich beyond dreams. Although everyone here misses having you around, I know you will all enjoy all the outdoor adventures that Colorado has to offer. And besides, you're not THAT far from friends and family. We'll see ya when we next visit there. Dinner's on us! Love you Scott! Dave and Kim
Oh my goodness I loved it! I must say it's a privledge and a blessing to know your family. Even though you're far away I hope we can still have fun adventures together! I would say my favorite memory would have been when we mountain biked Dimple Dell for the first time. I hadn't done anything like it before and you were very kind and helpful and helped make it a great experience that has turned into me loving mountain biking. With your continual support I was able to get into road biking with a bit more confidence and feel a desire to challenge myself. I loved knowing that I could share those experiences with you and Kari. St. George was a blast too! I will miss very much calling you at a moments notice for help on my bike. Thanks so much for all your time and support! I hope you are enjoying Colorado but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if you came back... just so ya know :0) Have a wonderful birthday and we wish so much that we could celerate with you! Love, Lacey Olpin :0)
ReplyDeleteScott,
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! That video was great! I enjoyed seeing all of the pictures of you, your friends, and family. It was a wonderful tribute to a life being well lived. I am grateful to be able to call you a friend. You have a bright future ahead of you. Keep up the good work. Hiking King's peak was a great adventure and we will need to do more. Know that you are loved and that the Midvale 13th Ward will always hold a special place in its heart for you and your girls. Again, have a fantastic birthday! I hope you get some great presents.
Your Friend,
Tim
I don't have the words to tell you how blessed I am to be your Dad. I am so very proud of you. I have enjoyed so many great memories with your early childhood, your cycling triumphs, your first independent trip you and Jason took to Moab, your wedding, Kari and the little gals, our Jackson Hole vacation, Priesthood conferences, etc. I can hardly believe all that you have accomplished with cycling, your mission and church service, your beautiful family, your graduation in just 3 years, your success with your job. Don't tell your brothers, but you are my favorite son. I am looking forward to many more wonderful life experiences and memories still to come. Happy Birthday to my special boy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of Scott, one word comes to mind, HOT...sauce! Haha! Not only how you eat it on everything, but how you almost let me die a slow firey death, until your dad was kind enough to tell me not to eat it. I have learned a lot from being your friend. I learned to never believe anything that comes out of your's or Marc's mouths. Underwear models...pppsssh! At least now I know how to go along with one of your fibs. I learned that I am NOT special enough to ride in the same car with you to St. Geroge, so Drew would have to do. I learned that I AM special enough to be a "support vehicle driver"/ "traffic director" in a rainstorm. I learned that you are an amazing person and a great friend. I am so thankful for your friendship with Marc and that I have been able to be a little part of that too. We love you and your beautiful family (the Roger Preston's and the Scott Preston's). I hope you have the Best 30th Birthday!
ReplyDeleteScotty-
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy Birthday Scotty!! Are you sure you're only turning 30? For some reason I was thinking you were coming up on 45. Oh well. This wonderful video shows all the awesome passions you have in life, and you truly are an inspiration to live life to the fullest! And in the midst of all that, I get to see what a great husband, dad, and brother-in-law you are! We have been so blessed to have you in our fam and I can't wait for the next 30 years!! Wow, you'll be 60. What? Yikes... Better enjoy your youth while it lasts!!!
Lots of love from your favorite sister-in-law,
Kristen
Happy Birthday Tubby,
ReplyDeleteI am so inspired by the man you’ve become you’re a great husband and father. It has been so fun to observe you the last few years and I must credit Kari for all the support she has given you in your accomplishments with school and your carrier. You are so much fun and such a diligent worker.
I have so many fond memories with you, we sure had some fun in our younger days didn’t we? You’ve always been one of my best friends, I remember us convincing friends and neighbors we were twins, remember the matching race car outfits we had? All the fun road trips and camping trips too! Best of all remember the excellent art you did featuring Tubbert The Walrus always dressed in a speedo, speaking of speedo’s one funny thing you did was give Shumway your see through transparent speedo and when he got out of the hot tub it caused quite the stir!
I sure love you,
Mel
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT!!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, we are so sad that we can't celebrate the big day with you, but we are more proud of you and your great accomplishment.
I will never forget the first time I "met" you. I called home from the mission field to talk to this guy that had come in, sweep my sister off her feet, and married her already!! I had no idea what to expect...and luckily I was met with a funny guy with a thick southern drawl. And boy have you keep us laughing since then.
Scott, you are an incredibly hard worker, an inspiring athlete, a sweet and loving "girl" dad (the kind that is willing to get his hands dirty at a fake tea party), a great gardener, loving husband, and a one of a kind brother-in-law!
For your virtual gift I have given you this:
http://www.sportsmanshabitat.com/world-record-huge-catfish.html
Caught by your hard noodling efforts, fried up, and served with the best BBQ in the world.
Hope you have a wonderful day and we are excited to spend the next 30 years with your family!
Love....Tyler, Lindsey, and Noelle Rees :)
Scott,
ReplyDeleteWow!! 30 years old, that's almost ancient!
You're a great man and a great friend. We're definitely sad that you and your family are now in Colorado, weekend rides won't be quite as easy to pull off. I hope things are and continue to be well for you and your family.
Have a great birthday and here's to 30 x 30 more years!!
Keep living life to the fullest!
-Kris Beldin
Scott,
ReplyDeleteI did not know that you had moved to Colorado, but it is a great state and I hope everything is working out for you there.
I have many fond memories of riding bikes with you and your brothers. I have always been so impressed by how fast you are on a bike but more impressed because you are such a nice guy. Have a great birthday and many more.
-Darryll Ervin
Scott, I can't believe you are only 2 years younger than me. I have always looked at you as a little brother. I loved reading the above comments and hope you feel the love we all have for you. I love what Char said. SO TRUE! I also know your Dad was not kidding when he said you are his favorite:-).
ReplyDeleteScotty, you were born with such a special spirit. You are so unique because you have always been wise beyond your years. You made good choices, and were responsible, although at the same time you were CRAZY, fun, and so adventurous.
Watching the clip above brought back so many memories. It reminded me how many experiences I've shared with you and your family. The Prestons were such a huge part of my life, and I love that it has continued through my married years. You are one of Dan's favorite people. I love that Dan loves the Prestons!
I hope you have the best birthday ever. 30 is awesome! You have accomplished so many things in your life, and I love seeing your beautiful family grow. Such a blessing.
Much love to you on your birthday! This world is definitely a better place because of your birth 30 years ago. You are truly one of a kind.
Bri
Scott~
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! It has been such a priviledge to know you and call you friend. We have so enjoyed getting to know you and Karilyn and your darling girls over these past six years. You were a wonderful and dedicated home teacher and we appreciated that! Your postive and humble attitude is such a great example to us all. We miss you and your family so much and will always think of you when we smear the nutella on those delicious crepes! We hope we can entice you back!We hope this coming year holds nothing but health, happiness and great success for you. Thanks for the great memories and we look forward to more! Happy Birthday!!!!!
Matt & Christy Butler
Scott is one of the consistently fastest cyclists I've ever known. On top of that, he is truly a good and kind person who is fun to be around. I got to know Scott when we came up with the crazy idea to start up a road biking team in Utah county. Everything that happened during that season of racing and training with Scott are some of my most cherished memories of my entire life. Probably not too bad a year for you either, Scott, since that's when you met your wife!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 30 great years and I wish you all the best in the next 30 to come. Maybe one day we'll ride LOTOJA on the tandem and set a course record. Have a great day with your beautiful family!
Scott-
ReplyDeleteHappy 30th Birthday. I cant believe it's already almost April 10th. Time sure flies. I still remember all of the great adventures we had together. Riding on box car trains, getting my car stolen in Mexico, living on the beach in Hawaii, eating out of dumpsters, and so many more. You have always been such a great friend. I would not be were I am at today without your influence in my life. I might be much further ahead. Just kidding. Thanks for all of the great memories and I look forward to many more.
Love you like a brother
Joe
Scott-
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy 30th Birthday!! We are sad that we can’t really celebrate your birthday with balloons and a big tea party – oh wait that is for Kadence – well we are sad that you won’t be here on your birthday to celebrate but we look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks. We do want to wish you the happiest of birthdays and tell you how much we love you and admire and appreciate the great young (yes you are still young) man that you are. You have added so much to our family and always make things a little more interesting and fun. I love how you have inspired the whole family to take up bike riding although no one does it quite like you. Taylor was so happy to finally get a brother and you have been such a great example to him. It has been fun to watch you become a Dad and to see how your little girls just love you. Thanks for two beautiful granddaughters!
We love all the wonderful things that have been said about you and have to agree with them all.
We send our love to you and wish you the very, very happiest of birthdays. Can’t wait to see where the ride of life takes you the next 30 years!!! (I hope it is back to Utah!)
Happy Birthday
Love…Robyn & Randy
Scott,
ReplyDeleteYou are the man's man. I'll always remember the great thrashing you and Jeff
Carter gave to the Cannondale Cup back in 95' and 96'. Also the great rides
with Ian Walker our Hawaiian downhilling ace. Also, who could forget our late
night dryer riding parties in Park City, jumping bikes at the Beaver Farms (did
the average Joe Jacob really land a 360 that day?), and the all too
familiar post ride, hot chili recovery food.
The one memory I'll never forget about you Scott was the day you wolfed down an
entire subway sandwich on the starting line at the Mercury Tour in Steamboat
springs. Then, starting dead last, slowly pass every single racer in the Senior
Expert category (ya, you were 18, racing in the 19-29 category). Oh, I guess
there were two guys you didn't pass, but that's because the race wasn't long
enough. Then last but not least, climbing up on the podium in 3rd place wearing
a root beer stained white pin striped tank top, and with head shaved like bozo
the clown, looking over at your fully sponsored, spandex clad, opponent
yuppies, as if they were taking life way to serious. Of course you were
serious about racing, I just liked the fact that you could show some
lightheartedness, amongst all the tension of the race.
Scott, It brings tears to my eyes when I imagine the places you've been on your
bike. Most of all though how much commitment you gave to racing and the natural
ability you have for it. I want you to know there is a great reason the lord
has given us talents and it's to bless the lives of others. When I remember or
read of your racing adventures it makes me want to push a little harder, have a
little more patience, be a better dad to my children, and be a little more
honest in my dealings with others. I will forever be indebted to you for this
Scott. Another reason I consider you such a great example is because of your
dedication to your family and the teachings of the Lord. It always makes me cry
when I see men with a strong testimony of the restored gosple, do so well in
cycling. It's probably because I feel I can relate a little with them, and know
that were part of a great brotherhood that is based on service toward each
other.
So, Happy Birthday Scotty. I wish you the best in all your endevors, and hope
that you and those rascals you call brothers won't forget the good times we've
had, and that the best times are still yet to be.... the one thing I know for
sure, and that I thank the Lord for every day is the fact that we can and will
be together forever... so here's to the race we have after the resurrection,
may my legs come back just a little bit stronger so that at the 1000th
mountain pass I can nose you for those 3 extra mountain points I deserve!
Your bro,
Rod
P.S.
The barn burned down long ago and now they're building a city of more barns to
be burned down!
Happy birthday scott! I dont have any brothers but your a pretty aweseome brother in law! Thanks for everything! I hope your liking colorado!
ReplyDeleteTaylor
Happy Birthday! I didn't realize you share this day with my baby sister. She is cool too, in fact, I like her almost as much as I like you! I will always remember with a special tenderness our short time together as "companions" in the bishopric. Very impressive, sincere, kind, spiritual and dedicated young man. We are better for having known you! Keep the faith and we look forward to hearing of great adventures and success in the future! Love you pal!
ReplyDeleteWhat!? Uh, I don't know... Does anybody mind if the Captain sings for the class?
ReplyDeleteScott, now that you're finally 30 you know what I've known for a week now--and the important thing is that Joe won't know it for another month. He has so much to learn...
Scott, your friendship and influence has been a true blessing in my life. Thank you.
Now, here are my top 3 memorable moments with you over the years:
haircuts (both the "old man" and the speech class); The China King Buffet and the home made tank tops; and Fried Chicken just before the St. George race.
Heather's most memorable moment with you: the first time she met you when you showed up at her door wearing a woman's swimming suit that you found in the community lost and found box.
We love you Scott!
PP & Heather
Scott, like everyone else here I am thankful that you are my friend but, unlike everyone else you literally saved my life! We have the most dynamic group of friends and we have more fun than any group. As you get older you will value your friends more. ( I know because I am older) You are a great young man and I love you even though you hit me with the elantra and I interrupted your bike ride with my wedding. Here's to a long healthy life and many more adventures! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteYour the best!
Marc
Scott
ReplyDeleteWow 30 already!! No worries it doesn't mean anything when you don't look a day over 22 like you.
I remember when I first met you you were a curly headed guy that always wore bike overalls to our house which I found incredibly odd. Now you are still that funny curly headed guy, but now I consider you my brother.
One of my earliest and favorite memories with you was getting picked up at my BYU apartment and heading to the mall to pick up Karilyn's wedding ring. I loved being included in such an exciting event with my new soon to be brother in law. Also I remember when you worked at the house for special needs adults in Orem and I would come visit you there. You would always have the patients start hitting on me and I felt incredibly uncomfortable, just your favorite kind of game, ha ha. Now I have watched you become a father to two beautiful little girls that adore you. You are a manly man, but those girls have you wrapped around their finger.
I thought long and hard about what kind of virtual gift I would like to give you. I couldn't actually find it online but if I could give you anything it would be a lifetime pass to every all meat buffet in the world. Go ahead and knock yourself out.
Happy Birthday and Love you always!!
Brianne and Chandler
Happy 30th Birthday Scott! We miss you and your 3 gals! I will always remember you and Tim hiking in the rain and grateful Karilyn and I were home -DRY!!!! Thanks for being a good friend to him. Celebrate much today as you deserve it!!! Great video Karilyn!!!
ReplyDeleteScott Preston,
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for the opportunity Kari has given us all to send our thoughts to you. I hope you realize they are most sincere.
The truth? There are few people I've known in my life that emobdy what you are. Like all things above already mentioned and many many more that are both admirable and endearing. You are kind and generous and thoughtful and genuine. You are hard working, loyal and righteously motivated. You are faith-filled and fun. You are supportive and loving to your incredible little family and many others. You are determined in pushing your body and abilities to a point where few can compete with. You are funny and creative and smart. You love your siblings with a bond that is rare in this world. I have seen you sacrifice things that you want for things that your family needs more and watched you grow into your responsibilities through the difficulty of giving up boyhood dreams.
Rod loves you and holds so many fond memories with you. I love you and you have taught me so much about friendship and generosity and positive attitudes amidst adversity. You are such a great example for us and sooo many others. You and Kari are so lucky to have found each other and forge a companionship that will bless so many lives, most importantly your gorgeous girls. They are 10 steps ahead of most to have you two as parents.
I'm proud of all that you are alone and together and hope that all your most important dreams have already come true! Happy Birthday Scott! You are the cream of the crop and someone not easily forgotten!
Sincerly,
Jourdan Boynton
Scott,
ReplyDeleteFirst, Happy Birthday! Are we really 30? Really?!
I just want to let you know that some of my very best memories are the ones with you doing the 100 hour week, Zion Narrows, running into you at New Years Eve, your wedding to Kari, saving Lincoln from the Provo River. And not to mention the night you came as Adam to the themed party after Egypt. Long boarding in canyon.
It is a fact that I do not to get to spend enough time with you, but the times we do get to hang out, WATCH OUT! I still look back to learn from our mission experiences together as I learn what it means to be a champion. Working insanely hard, having fun.
We need to catch up in the baddest of ways. Hope things are great in Co. I am in New Mexico.
Yours Truly,
Ben Anderson

Happy 30th Birthday Scott! The video is great. We are so fortunate to know you and your family. We miss you all. Thanks for all your help on the Deer Creek Swim. You are always welcome to come back for it!! We have great memories of hikes, snow shoeing, football games, swimming, feeding chickens, gardens and great visits. Jim says you are the only person he knows that can do flips in the snow with snowshoes on! Bring your cute girls over to feed the chickens sometime when you are back in town.
ReplyDeleteLove, Jim, Connie & Clint Hubbard
Kari you are such an angel to put this together for Scott, and the whole gang of people who love you both. Scott I love how your face crunches all up when you are upset, which almost never happens. I love how easy going you appear to be, how fun you appear to be and just like a bottomless lake you are really deep and penetrating and have a powerful personality intense spirituality, and insightful wisdom. I was At the poultry section of the farmers coop purchasing some guinea fowl and geese. I started laughing while telling friends about you sitting on the ducks and squashing them with your diaper. It must have been loaded. Ive loved going sledding with you, watching all the snakes, lizards, and frogs you were so proud of. All the places your adventurs have taken you to. Reading with you and watching how you interact with others. What a wonderful joy it is to watch you grow into such a responsible Husband, Father, Spiritual advisor & Business man. So happy you have graced our home with your powerful spirit. Love you Mom
